For recent matric holders with a keen interest in science, or individuals contemplating a career shift towards the sciences, our Bioprocessing Skills Programme offers a compelling opportunity to step into the world of biotechnology. An ideal option for your gap year or a strategic career change.
This four month initiative features a structured blend of in-person training at our Cape Town campus and a two month internship at a host company. Designed to facilitate a smooth transition into the sector, the programme encompasses areas such as vaccine development and production, biological agents, metabolites, and pharmaceutically active ingredients.
Participants will gain hands-on experience with laboratory equipment, acquiring vital skills and knowledge essential for this growing field. Additionally, the programme incorporates a job-critical skills module focusing on areas like self-awareness, workplace exposure, effective communication, interview techniques, and goal setting.
Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certificate endorsed by UVU Bio experts, further validating their preparedness for the evolving Biotechnology landscape. This programme is initiated in partnership with GIZ South Africa.

Our application process consists of several stages. First, candidates will be provided with a link to an online test to evaluate their cognitive abilities. Successful candidates will then undergo a phone interview. The final stage involves an in-person interview in Cape Town for selected candidates.Â
Yes, all of the interventions offered by UVU Bio are funded and stipends are provided to all candidates. We do not sponsor any relocation costs.Â
