About The Programme

For recent graduates with a keen interest in science, or individuals contemplating a career shift towards the sciences, our Introduction to Biotechnology and Bioprocessing Skills Programme offers a compelling opportunity to step into the world of biotechnology. An ideal option for a strategic career change.

This initiative features a structured blend of in-person training at our Kigali campus designed to facilitate a smooth transition into the sector. The programme encompasses areas such as vaccine development and production, biological agents, metabolites, and pharmaceutically active ingredients.

Participants will gain hands-on experience with laboratory equipment, acquiring vital skills and knowledge essential for this growing field. Additionally, the programme incorporates a job-critical skills module focusing on areas like self-awareness, workplace exposure, effective communication, interview techniques, and goal setting. Active engagement in the programme is mandatory, and all sessions will be conducted in English.

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certificate endorsed by UVU Bio experts, further validating their preparedness for the evolving Biotechnology landscape. This programme is initiated in partnership with GIZ Rwanda

  • Have a matric certificate with minimum of 60% in Pure Mathematics and 60% in either Physical Science or Life Sciences
  • Be able to provide your certificate of highest academic achievement
  • Have no criminal record and a clean credit history.
  • Rwandan nationality
  • Between the age range of 18 to 35 years old
  • Be under or unemployed at the time of application
  • Be located in Kigali or able to commit to relocating for a period of 6 weeks
  • Able to attend full-time training Monday to Friday in Kigali
  • Able to commit to the full programme and committed to completing it
  • Be available to start from July 2025

    Our application process consists of several stages. First, candidates will be provided with a link to an online test to evaluate their cognitive abilities. Successful candidates will then undergo a phone interview. The final stage involves an in-person interview in Kigali for selected candidates

    Yes, all of the interventions offered by UVU Bio are funded and stipends are provided to all candidates. We do not sponsor any relocation costs. 

    Our programmes are not virtual; they offer a face-to-face experience, aligning closely with the real-world work environment and exposure to laboratory equipment.
