About The Programme

The General Laboratory Practice and Equipment Operation course is a 3-week intensive, hands-on training programme designed to equip participants with the foundational theoretical knowledge and practical laboratory skills required for careers in biotechnology, molecular biology, diagnostics, and research laboratories. 

The programme blends classroom-based learning, interactive tutorials, and extensive practical laboratory sessions with real equipment exposure. Participants are immersed in real-world laboratory environments to build confidence, technical competence, and professional readiness. 

In addition to core laboratory training, the programme integrates structured soft skills and professional development workshops, focusing on communication, teamwork, workplace ethics, and employability skills essential for success in the life sciences sector 

  • Current BSC or post BSC graduates, who are interested in developing their laboratory experience
  • Maximum education level NQF 7 
  • Be able to provide your certificate of highest academic achievement
  • Have no criminal record and a clean credit history
  • Rwandan national or permitted to reside in Rwanda
  • Between the age range of 18 to 35 years old
  • Be under or unemployed at the time of application
  • Being able to attend full-time course in Kigali – NO relocation costs will be covered 
  • Able to attend full-time training Monday to Friday
  • Able to commit to the full three weeks of training
  • Be available to start from June 2026

    Our application process consists of several stages. First, candidates will be provided with a link to an online test to evaluate their cognitive abilities. Successful candidates will then undergo a phone interview. The final stage involves an in-person interview.

    Yes, all of the interventions offered by UVU Bio are funded and stipends are provided to all candidates. We do not sponsor any relocation costs. 

    Our programmes are not virtual; they offer a face-to-face experience at our lab and training facility, aligning closely with the real-world work environment and exposure to laboratory equipment.
